Computer Speakers - Logitech-Klipsch-Bose-Creative Computer Speakers

The next logical step after the sound card is the speakers.  Computer speakers have come a long way since just the two white boxes that plug right into the sound card.  Now you have a choice between 2, 3, 5, or even 6 speakers, including a subwoofer.  I would go with no less than two regular speakers and a subwoofer as pictured above on the left, unless you plan on doing a lot of gaming or movie watching, then you may wish to purchase a 5 or 6 speaker system like the one on the right.

Altec Lansing speakers are my favorite, I have one of their low-end systems with two speakers and a subwoofer yet it sounds great and can even handle the higher volumes very well.  If you want to get really fancy then Klipsch is the way to go.  That's one of their sets shown above on the left.  Don't just take my advice though, go to your local Best Buy or major electronics store and listen to the display models, then buy the speakers for half price on eBay.

Cost

These can range from $30 to $200 depending on the number of speakers and the wattage running through the system.
